Sony Executive Vice President Mike Fasulo says he is cautiously optimistic for holiday sales this year. With subpar sales of the Playstation 3 since 2006, Sony is stepping up and making some changes to get back in the game.

The newly announced Playstation 3 Slim is a smaller version of the game player with a cheaper $299 price tag.

Cyber Monday Specials to Look For

You might not be able to find a better Cyber Monday Special than this $100 price cut, but what you can look for is significant savings on Blu-Ray devices. Since the Playstation 3 Slim is also Blu-Ray compatible, look for this gaming device to put pressure on the existing stock of Sony Blu-Ray players ranging from $250 to over $700 dollars.

Another added installment this year is the ability to stream Netflix directly to the Blu-Ray device. This feature shared by Samsung, LG and the Sony networked TV’s will allow people to watch high definition movies streamed directly over the internet for no added cost beyond the Netflix membership fee.

If you’re looking for Cyber Monday Specials on Blu-Ray this year, be looking for Sony to unload on their 1st generation models without this streaming capability.
