Cyber Monday Specials vs. Green Monday Specials

So, we all know Cyber Monday Specials are on the highest traffic internet shopping day of the year, which happens to be the first Monday after Thanksgiving. This is an important day for us, but there is another internet shopping day worth exploring during the holiday season.
Green Monday is the second Monday in December, which means it’s assumed to be the last shopping day before you have to pay for express shipping. This is also an important day for shoppers because this is the last day many retailers offer free shipping on their items, which is a significant advantage of shopping during the holiday season.
If Green Monday sounds pretty obscure, it should. Ebay coined the term in a marketing campaign a few years ago, and the idea stuck around in the business vernacular because it represents the last peak in shopping for major businesses, which you can see in an article by Dillon McGovern.
This ends up being important information for you the shopper if you think there will be even greater savings after this year’s cyber Monday specials. If that Ipod Pager comes out (trust me, they’ll make it one day and you will love it) and it hasn’t come down in price with the Cyber Monday Specials, it’s a good bet that it’s not getting any cheaper. Granted, there is a slight chance that the coveted item little Jonny wants this year might come down in price after that magical Monday after Thanksgiving, but realize that the clock has started ticking. Once Green Monday comes around, there will be far less incentive for companies to lower their price for the holiday rush.
